Head First Learn to Code | WickedlySmart

Head First Learn to Code is under way!

We know, you’re just beginning your journey learning how to code, and it’s an unfamiliar land if you’ve never been there before, but we can help. Using the proven brain-friendly style of the Head First series, Head First Learn to Code teaches you what matters, and in a totally different way than your average introduction to computer science. If you’re new to Head First, here’s what you need to know: we focus on engaging, graphic examples, combined with puzzles, strong visuals, mysteries, and soul-searching interviews with famous computational objects to engage you in many different ways. You’ll find it fast, fun, and effective. And, despite its playful appearance, Head First Learn to Code is serious stuff: a complete introduction to coding.

Update from Eric, July 2017

Hi all! The book is well along now, with plans to be finished in the next six weeks. We’re working out the details for a quick online release before it goes to print. During that period I’ll be looking for a small group who can quickly go through the material and provide feedback. More to come on that…for now just enter your name and email below and we’ll notify you when we have the final details.

Your Tour Guide

O’Reilly has tasked Eric Freeman with writing this book, and with him you’re in good hands. Not only does Eric know the ropes of coding, he’s been writing Head First books for over a decade. Kathy Sierra, the creator of the Head First series, called Eric “one of those rare individuals fluent in the language, practice, and culture of multiple domains from hipster hacker, corporate VP, engineer, think tank”, and that’s why his Head First books are so engaging and effective. He’s also a serious Computer Scientist, with a Ph.D. from Yale University, and a real world technologist and developer who was CTO at Disney.com for many years.
