Head First Learn to Code is under way!

We know, you’re just beginning your journey learning how to code, and it’s an unfamiliar land if you’ve never been there before, but we can help. Using the proven brain-friendly style of the Head First series, Head First Learn to Code teaches you what matters, and in a totally different way than your average introduction to computer science. If you’re new to Head First, here’s what you need to know: we focus on engaging, graphic examples, combined with puzzles, strong visuals, mysteries, and soul-searching interviews with famous computational objects to engage you in many different ways. You’ll find it fast, fun, and effective. And, despite its playful appearance, Head First Learn to Code is serious stuff: a complete introduction to coding.

Now for the bad news

Okay, here it is: the book is still being written. But don’t let that get you down, as there’s a chance to get early access to the book. You can even participate in the writing process by providing feedback to chapters, and get your name in the acknowledgements to boot. We’re still working out the details, but if you’re interested, just enter your name and email below and we’ll notify you when we have the final details.

Your Tour Guide

O’Reilly has tasked Eric Freeman with writing this book, and with him you’re in good hands. Not only does Eric know the ropes of coding, he’s been writing Head First books for over a decade. Kathy Sierra, the creator of the Head First series, called Eric “one of those rare individuals fluent in the language, practice, and culture of multiple domains from hipster hacker, corporate VP, engineer, think tank”, and that’s why his Head First books are so engaging and effective. He’s also a serious Computer Scientist, with a Ph.D. from Yale University, and a real world technologist and developer who was CTO at Disney.com for many years.
